04 Apr Sunday Destination #4 – Tranche Winery
As we left the airport district, we started to head towards the downtown area on US highway 12, but I recalled that Tranche winery was located on the Eastern side of Walla Walla, so we flipped a U-turn and headed to the Eastside. Wine destination #4 was about to succumb to Aaron’s Wine Chronicles! My wife had only driven past this property during one of her quests for new photography locations, but she had never tasted here. I had only visited the tasting room in the Fall of 2018 for my first time, so I was excited to visit again. As we drove up the road, we stopped for the obvious photo opportunities as the sheer beauty of the adjacent farm, vineyards and the landscape were too inviting to pass up. As we ventured into the tasting room, a modern vibe was readily apparent and two young, amazing tasting room staff greeted us as we moseyed up to the bar. We had the distinct pleasure of engaging Molly Burchfield and Evan Neal. As we briefly chatted about my new website, Molly and Neal took us through the 6 wine tastings on the list. The 2016 Pape (GSM-Cinsault blend) and the 2015 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon resonated nicely with my palate, while the 2016 Pape Blanc was a favorite of my wife. After enjoying some great wine discussions with Molly and Neal, we decided to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy a glass of wine. I ended up with a glass of the 2015 Estate Cab, while my wife enjoyed a glass of the 2016 Pape Blanc. We sat outside for about ½ an hour enjoying the beautiful day and taking pix. This is a great place to relax and enjoy some great tasting wines.
