Thursday Wine Escapade

My spontaneous Thursday wine escapade made September 12th a really enjoyable day.  Stop #1 was Bartholomew Winery in Kennewick.  I was excited to taste their newly released (2016) Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère.  Crafted by Bart Fawbush, these wines really deliver.  But the wine that called out to me on this day was the 2016 Reciprocity (Red Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère).  Go figure!  Quality and price point cannot be beat.  I ended up with a bottle of this beautiful blend.

Stop #2 was J. Bookwalter Winery out in my neck of the woods in South Richland.  All I really wanted to do was have a glass of wine and order the bacon wrapped dates (a delicious appetizer on their menu).  But instead, I decided to sit at the wine bar and do a full-tasting for my Thursday wine escapade.  That was a really good decision.  After choosing the Reserve tasting and arranging to swap out the white wine for the Reader’s Cabernet Sauvignon, I was excited to go through their line-up of big red wines.

While every red I tasted was unique and really outstanding…the best part of this tasting was when Caleb Foster (J. Bookwalter Winemaker) decided to take over the wine pouring!  Mr. Foster has a wealth of knowledge and was really engaging as we moved through the wine tasting.  At the end of the day he agreed to a future “Winemaker Interview” for Aaronswinechronicles.com and I ended up buying a bottle of the Chapter 8 Cabernet Sauvignon!  Simply delicious!  Thank you Caleb for the great conversation and I look forward to our interview at some point over the coming weeks.  Cheers!!
